Damietta Port Sees Heavy Activity with 30 Vessels Handled in 24 Hours
Damietta Port in Egypt saw significant activity over the past 24 hours, handling 30 vessels, including 15 general cargo and container ships arriving and departing. The port's loading and unloading operations involved 24 vessels.
General cargo exports from Damietta totaled 13,444 tonnes, with notable shipments of beet feed (4,500 tonnes), urea (1,000 tonnes), bagged gypsum (5,000 tonnes), clinker (162 tonnes), molasses (250 tonnes), and miscellaneous goods (2,532 tonnes).
Imports at the port reached 26,190 tonnes, consisting mainly of scrap metal (6,489 tonnes), beech wood (864 tonnes), plywood (922 tonnes), corn (15,415 tonnes), and diverse goods (2,500 tonnes). Container traffic included exports of 1,002 TEUs, imports of 323 TEUs, and transit TEUs of 2,419.
The port's public sector grain silo stored 36,582 tonnes of wheat, while private sector stores held 27,390 tonnes. A total of 4,699 truck trips were recorded at the port during this period.
A Ro-Ro vessel called GALLIPOLI SEAWAYS departed from Damietta bound for Italy's Trieste, carrying a cargo of 4,411 tonnes that included vegetables, fruits, aluminium cables, textiles, car wiring harnesses, LED switches, connectors, and private cars headed for several European countries and Morocco.
