Dana Gas Commences Natural Gas Supplies to Iraq's Ministry of Electricity
Dana Gas and Crescent Petroleum have begun supplying natural gas from the Khor Mor field in Sulaimani's Chamchamal district to Iraq's Ministry of Electricity. The companies will provide 100 MMscf/d of gas for an initial term of one year, aiming to improve power generation and services in the country.
This marks a major step towards opening new markets and delivering much-needed gas by pipeline from the Khor Mor facility. Located in Sulaimani province's Chamchamal district, the field is the largest supplier of electricity in the Kurdistan Region, with natural gas reserves of around 1.8 trillion cubic feet.
According to Crescent Petroleum CEO Majid Jafar, 'This first delivery of gas to Iraq's Ministry of Electricity is an important milestone for the companies in their development of the gas sector in the Kurdistan Region.'
