Dana Gas Cuts Kurdistan's Power Generation by 1,000 MW
Kurdistan's electricity generation has plummeted by 1,000 megawatts after Dana Gas reduced natural gas deliveries to power stations in the region. The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Electricity Ministry announced the decrease on Wednesday and said it is in contact with Dana Gas to restore normal supply and generation.
The ministry did not specify how much gas was cut or what caused the reduction, but stated that it would last for an unknown period of time. Dana Gas had yet to issue a public statement as of Wednesday morning regarding the situation.
Khor Mor in Sulaymaniyah governorate is the main fuel source for power generation across the region and supports over 2,000 MW. The loss represents around half of what the field carries, according to reports.
