Dana Gas Denies Breach of Agreement with Kurdistan Authorities

Dana Gas and Crescent Petroleum have denied breaching an agreement with authorities in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. The two companies operate gasfields in the area, including the Khor Mor field, which supplies natural gas to both the regional government and the Iraqi Electricity Ministry.

The consortium supplied 100 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscf/d) of gas from excess capacity to the ministry, on top of the 655 MMscf/d already provided to the KRG. Dana Gas stated that the Kurdistan Regional Government was aware of its agreement with the Iraqi ministry and had been regularly updated throughout years of discussions.

The KRG accused the consortium of acting unilaterally, claiming it received notification only at the time of the public announcement. However, Dana Gas maintained that the agreement did not require any additional authorization or approval from the KRG.
