Aliko Dangote, Africa's richest man, is set to launch a $16 billion oil refinery in Kenya, despite protests from local residents over land compensation.

The refinery, which will process 700,000 barrels of crude oil per day, is expected to be East Africa's largest industrial project by capacity upon completion in 2030.

Dangote dismissed the protests as 'games played by local marketers and international players,' insisting that the refinery would go ahead as planned.
