Delhi CNG Prices Rise Again Amid Global LNG Price Surge

Compressed natural gas (CNG) prices in Delhi and surrounding cities have increased by ₹3.89 per kg, effective from 6 am on Saturday, according to Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL). The new rate is ₹86.98 per kg in the capital.

The price hike follows a previous increase of ₹2 per kg in late May due to global energy supply constraints resulting from the conflict in West Asia.

IGL attributed the rise in CNG prices to elevated international liquefied natural gas (LNG) costs, which have surged since the conflict began. The company stated that LNG makes up a significant portion of the gas used for CNG and that spot LNG prices have increased significantly.

The increase will impact users of CNG cars, auto-rickshaws, taxis, and other commercial vehicles across Delhi-NCR, where passenger and goods transport rely heavily on the fuel.
