Denmark Ties with Putin's LNG Fleet Face Scrutiny

The Danish shipyard Fayard has been servicing tankers carrying liquefied natural gas from Russia's Arctic project, despite concerns about security and ties to Vladimir Putin's regime.

Fayard holds a framework agreement covering service and maintenance of Denmark's Thetis-class military vessels. It also services Arc7 tankers carrying LNG from Russia's Yamal project.

The warning by Denmark's security service that Russian intelligence services were preparing sabotage against the country's defence industry should prompt attention to this issue, according to environmental campaigner Vladimir Slivyak.

Slyviak, a co-founder and co-chair of the Russian environmental organisation Ecodefense, has spent decades campaigning against fossil-fuel projects. He left Russia in 2022 after it became impossible for him to continue his work there.
