Natural gas forwards experienced a broad sell-off during the July 22-29 trading period, reversing gains from the previous week. The decline was attributed to cooler temperatures across most regions, with one notable exception: the desert Southwest.

The Western points in this region saw record-high demand due to scorching heat, allowing them to buck the national trend and hold their value. In contrast, other areas such as the Permian Basin and New England saw their winter prices slide further.
