Diesel Prices Hit All-Time High as Middle East Conflict Continues
The UK's diesel fuel prices have reached an all-time high of 199.18p per litre, according to the RAC motoring organisation.
This marks a significant increase from the previous record in June 2022 and is largely attributed to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which has disrupted oil production and transportation.
The Iran war has severely impacted the global supply chain, causing wholesale oil prices to surge. As a result, diesel prices have risen by 59p per litre, or nearly 40%, since the conflict began at the end of February.
RAC's head of policy, Simon Williams, warned that these increased costs will be passed on to consumers and that prices at the pumps will not come down until there is a sustained lower oil price over several weeks.
