Diesel Prices Hit Record High Amid Global Supply Disruptions
US diesel prices have hit an all-time high of $5.85 per gallon, marking a significant increase from February 28 when the national average was around $3.76 per gallon.
This steep rise in diesel prices is largely attributed to rising crude oil costs, which are being driven by supply-chain disruptions throughout West Asia and have pushed Brent crude above $95 a barrel.
The high cost of diesel is having a ripple effect on the economy, with higher transportation and production costs leading to increased food prices and a broader impact on living costs.
Some businesses have already begun passing on these costs to consumers through added fees on online orders and mailed packages, while others are expected to increase prices of products such as clothing, cosmetics, and furniture that rely heavily on diesel transportation.
