Diesel Prices Soar to Record High Above $6 Per Gallon

The price of diesel fuel in the US has surpassed $6 per gallon for the first time ever, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).

This comes as crude oil prices have reached a three-month high, with Brent crude oil spot price increasing 7.9% to $130.80 per barrel.

Don Schaefer, president of the Mid-West Truckers Association, notes that low inventories and high demand are driving up prices, which will continue until 'we get some sort of resolution'.

The EIA's latest weekly price report shows U.S. on-highway diesel averaged $6.28 per gallon as of September 15, a 32-cent increase from the previous week.
