Direct Energy Announces Natural Gas Rate Hike for October 2026

Direct Energy Regulated Services has announced default natural gas rates for October 2026. The rates will apply to customers who have not chosen a competitive supplier within the ATCO Gas North and South service territories.

The Alberta Utilities Commission has verified the method DERS uses to calculate the rates. The regulated natural gas rate for October is $1.458 per GJ, an increase from the September rate of $1.124 per GJ.

The rate reflects a market price for October supplies of approximately $1.419 per GJ as reported by the NGX and incorporates an adjustment of $0.039 per GJ for September and prior months.
