DNV Backs Blue Ammonia FPSO Concept from BW Offshore and McDermott

BW Offshore and McDermott have received an Approval in Principle (AiP) from DNV for their blue ammonia FPSO concept.

The concept, which was unveiled in February, is designed to process up to 3 million cubic meters of natural gas per day and produce more than 1 million tonnes of ammonia annually.

The unit would convert natural gas into hydrogen and then ammonia, with carbon capture technology capturing up to 99% of the CO2 generated during production.

This marks an important milestone in the development of offshore low-carbon energy production solutions.
