Dollar Slips as Crude Oil Prices and T-Note Yields Fall
The US dollar index (DXY00) slipped on Tuesday, falling by -0.14% from its one-month high.
This decline was due to several factors, including a decrease in July consumer confidence and lower inflation expectations following a sharp drop in crude oil prices.
The price of WTI crude oil plummeted by -4% on Tuesday, reaching a one-week low. This fall in oil prices lowered inflation expectations, which could prompt the Federal Reserve to adopt easier monetary policies, a development that would be negative for the dollar.
In addition, lower T-note yields on Tuesday weakened the dollar's interest rate differentials, further contributing to its decline.
