Dollar Strengthens, Gold Prices Fall Amid Interest Rate Expectations

Gold prices fell in Asian trading on Friday as the dollar strengthened and expectations grew that the US Federal Reserve will keep interest rates high to combat inflation.

The spot price of gold dropped by 0.2% to $4,270.40 per ounce, marking a decline of over 2% for the week so far.

This downward trend is also evident in other precious metals, with silver falling 0.5% to $63.58 and palladium dropping 1.3% to $1,257.70.

The dollar's gains are making dollar-denominated metals more expensive for holders of other currencies, which is putting additional pressure on gold prices.
