US Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy announced a new partnership between the Department of Transportation and the Port of Corpus Christi to advance small modular reactor (SMR) technology for maritime applications.

The agreement, signed on May 25th, aims to revitalize US shipbuilding, cut fuel costs, and restore America's maritime dominance.

The Port of Corpus Christi is a major gateway for American energy, with an 81% increase in liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports since 2022, thanks to President Donald J. Trump's policies.

Secretary Duffy stated, 'Small modular reactors have the potential to reshape America's maritime sector, lower shipping costs, and bolster our supply chains.'
