Drone Attacks Disrupt Libya's Zawiya Oil Refinery Operations
The Zawiya oil refinery in Libya has been targeted by drone attacks, which have caused a partial shutdown of operations and disrupted fuel supply to several stations in the western region. The refinery, located west of Tripoli, is one of the largest operating refineries in Libya, with a capacity of 120,000 barrels per day.
The latest attack on Monday targeted an oil blending and filling plant operated by the Zawiya Oil Refining Company, falling near its main oil tank and a pipeline network used to produce oils for the domestic market. Although the fire caused no damage to the refinery itself, it led to a temporary disruption in fuel supply.
The overall supply situation within the country remains stable due to available volumes of gasoline at the Tripoli oil depot and tankers loading additional shipments. However, Libya's National Oil Corp has warned that it could declare force majeure if drone attacks on energy assets in the city continued.
