Africa50 Secures Fresh Capital for Tanzanian Infrastructure Projects
Africa50, a pan-African infrastructure investment platform, has secured new investments and partnerships to mobilize capital for infrastructure development across Africa. At the 2026 Infra for Africa Forum in Dar es Salaam, Africa50 announced agreements with international investors and Tanzanian institutions, including a $20 million commitment from British International Investment (BII) to its Infrastructure Acceleration Fund (IAF). This brings the IAF's total capital commitments to approximately $330 million. The agreements also include partnerships for natural gas, electricity transmission, and healthcare infrastructure in Tanzania.
Africa50 is partnering with TAQA Arabia and TPDC on a small-scale liquefied natural gas project that will distribute domestic natural gas to industrial and transportation customers across Tanzania. Managing Director of TPDC Mussa Makame said the partnership demonstrates Tanzania's commitment to leveraging its natural gas resources for national development.
The project is expected to convert Tanzania's gas resources into reliable energy for industry, communities, and transport, strengthening energy security and accelerating industrialization. Africa50 also signed a memorandum of understanding with Tanzania Electricity Supply Company (TANESCO) to collaborate on electricity transmission public-private partnerships (PPPs).
