A drone attack on Saudi Arabia's oil infrastructure has halted oil flow through the East-West pipeline. The pipeline, owned by Saudi Aramco, is a critical route for transporting oil from eastern Saudi Arabia to the Red Sea coast.

The attacks occurred near the Al-Misbah area and caused severe damage to an oil pumping station. Satellite images released on Friday show the extent of the damage, which was likely caused by a fire set off by the drone strikes.

Riyadh has claimed that the strikes were carried out from Iraq. The East-West pipeline is approximately 1,200 kilometres long and carries oil without using the Strait of Hormuz. Oil transport through this route has been suspended as a result of the attacks.
