DTN Weekly: DDG Price Rises Amid Mixed Market

The average price of domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) rose by $4 per short ton to $163 in the week ended August 20, according to DTN's spot prices. This increase is part of a mixed market where DDG prices were higher on average, but cash corn and soybean meal prices also rose.

The value of DDG relative to corn was 0.906%, down from 0.943% the previous week, while its value compared to soybean meal remained at 50.34%. The cost per unit of protein for DDG was $6.04, higher than the $5.89 seen previously.

The Energy Information Administration reported a 28,000 bpd decrease in ethanol production in the United States from August 14 compared to the previous week, but the four-week average output remained above last year's level.
