Dunleavy Presses Lawmakers to Reconvene on Alaska LNG Pipeline Bill
Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy expressed disappointment over the stalled Alaska LNG pipeline bill in the state legislature. The $50 billion project aims to export natural gas to Asia, a move that would boost national security and trade with partners like Japan.
The governor cited insufficient support for the bill as the reason for its delay. He emphasized that delaying action on the project increases risk, raises costs, and limits future options for affordable and reliable natural gas in Alaska.
Dunleavy is now urging lawmakers to reconvene on August 20 to vote on a tax change needed to advance the pipeline and terminal project. The Trump administration has promoted the Alaska LNG project as a way to boost national security and trade with partners and allies, including Japan.
