EBRD Lowers Forecast for Ukrainian Economy Amid Energy Infrastructure Attacks
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has reduced its forecast for Ukraine's economic growth due to Russian attacks on energy infrastructure. The bank estimates that Ukraine could lose up to $5 billion in export revenues, with grain exports falling to levels seen in April 2022.
The EBRD initially predicted a 1.8% growth rate for 2026, but has revised it down to 1.5%. For 2027, the bank expects Ukraine's economic growth to accelerate to 2.2%, which is still lower than its previous estimate of 4%.
The Chief Economist at the EBRD, Beata Jaworczyk, emphasized that disruptions to energy infrastructure have had a significant impact on the Ukrainian economy, and an end to attacks would be beneficial.
