Ecuador has issued a call for tenders to import liquefied natural gas (LNG) as its domestic gas demand continues to rise.

The country's energy regulator, Corporación Nacional del Petróleo (CNPC), published the tender notice on September 18, 2026, seeking bids from companies interested in supplying LNG to Ecuador's regasification terminal in Manta.

The regasification terminal has a capacity of 5.2 million cubic meters per day and is operated by Petróleos del Ecuador (Petroecuador), the state-owned oil company. However, due to increasing domestic gas demand, Petroecuador is seeking additional LNG supplies to meet the shortfall.

The tender notice does not specify a minimum or maximum quantity of LNG that must be supplied, but it does require bidders to provide their prices in US dollars per million British thermal units (MMBtu).
