Edmonton to Host Global Carbon Capture Experts at Convention
Edmonton is set to host over 5,000 attendees at Carbon Capture Canada 2026, a national convention focused on carbon capture. The event will take place from September 15 to 17 at the Edmonton Convention Centre and bring together representatives from government, industry, investment, and technology sectors.
More than 100 companies are expected to exhibit at the event, with representatives from over 50 countries in attendance. The convention comes after Canada, Alberta, and the Oil Sands Alliance signed a memorandum of understanding on July 2 regarding the Pathways carbon capture project.
Organizers say the timing of this year's convention is ideal, falling between the signing of the Pathways MOU in July and the expected definitive agreements related to the project later this fall. The conference will feature over 150 speakers discussing various aspects of carbon capture policy, investment, infrastructure, financing, and technology.
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith, Oil Sands Alliance president Kendall Dilling, and Alberta Indigenous Opportunities Corporation CEO Chana Martineau are among the scheduled speakers. Representatives from Natural Resources Canada and the Indonesian government will also participate in the convention.
