Eemshaven LNG Terminal Breaks Records with Gas Deliveries to Czechia
The Eemshaven LNG terminal in the Netherlands has handled 92 ships carrying gas for Czechia since its operation began in September 2022. These ships have delivered a total of 8.2 billion cubic meters of gas, which is equivalent to around 14 months' worth of consumption in the country. This amount exceeds four years' worth of gas consumption by all Czech households.
According to energy company ČEZ, the deliveries contained no Russian gas, and most of the ships came from the United States. The terminal's operator has leased capacity until September next year but is currently negotiating an extension with interested parties.
ČEZ CEO Daniel Beneš stated that LNG deliveries through Eemshaven have helped ensure sufficient gas supplies for Czech households and industry during the energy crisis. He emphasized that the company transported most of the gas by tanker directly from fields in the United States, highlighting their ability to navigate global market disruptions.
