Eemshaven LNG Terminal Delivers Record Gas Volumes to Czech Republic
The Eemshaven LNG terminal in the Netherlands has received 92 ships carrying gas for the Czech Republic since its operation began in September 2022. Over four years, these shipments delivered a total of 8.2 billion cubic metres of gas, equivalent to around 14 months of consumption in Czechia and more than four years of consumption by all Czech households.
The terminal has continued to receive ships at the same pace as last year, despite the crisis in the Middle East. None of the deliveries contained gas from Russia, with most coming from the United States. Eemshaven was the first LNG terminal to start operating in Europe since the beginning of the war in Ukraine.
ČEZ, a leading energy company in the Czech Republic, has leased capacity at the terminal until September next year and is negotiating an extension. The company actively negotiates with partners in the global market, allowing them to buy liquefied natural gas in good time even in the current tight market.
