Egypt Aims to Boost Oil and Gas Production with New Strategy
Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, recently reviewed strategic plans to boost the country’s oil and gas production. The meeting with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) focused on increasing domestic output, securing fuel supplies, and improving operational efficiency.
Key discussion points included production and exploration plans with investment partners, project execution rates, and the efficiency of refining and distribution networks. Badawi stressed the need to maximize existing infrastructure while enhancing economic performance. He also urged faster project implementation and closer monitoring of performance indicators.
The minister highlighted the importance of attracting investment in exploration and production while maintaining high standards for safety and environmental protection. Notably, Egypt’s crude oil production surpassed 540,000 barrels per day in June, marking a return to growth after a period of decline.
Recent efforts have included increased drilling and development activities. In September, EGPC and the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) added around 45 million cubic feet per day of natural gas and 540 barrels per day of condensates from four wells across key regions.
