Egypt Boosts Domestic Oil and Gas Output to Enhance Energy Security
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi met to discuss the ministry's plan to boost domestic oil and natural gas production. The goal is to strengthen energy security in Egypt.
The settlement of all outstanding payments to partners by June 2026 will be a significant step towards restoring investor confidence, encouraging exploration, and field development activity. This move aims to increase domestic natural gas output through the development of existing fields, expanded exploration, and accelerated discovery development.
The ministry targets adding around 250 million cubic feet per day (mmcf/d) from the Zohr and West Mena fields in the Mediterranean before year-end. Additionally, they aim to add 80 mmcf/d from the Meleiha fields in the Western Desert by the end of September.
