Egypt Seeks 20 More LNG Shipments for September
Egypt has requested 20 liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments from global suppliers for September, adding to its total contracted shipments during the summer months. This comes at a time when Egypt's power stations are consuming about 6 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas and equivalent fuel.
The cost of these imports is estimated to be around one billion dollars, with each shipment costing approximately 50 million dollars on average. The government official who made the statement noted that this request brings the total contracted shipments during the summer months to about 63 shipments.
Egypt has allocated 10.7 billion dollars to secure its natural gas needs during the fiscal year 2026-2027, with an estimated gas import bill for the current fiscal year around 2.2 billion dollars higher than the previous year's invoice of 8.5 billion dollars.
