EIA Reports Record-Breaking Natural Gas Storage Injection
The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) has released its weekly Natural Gas Storage Report, showing a significant injection of natural gas into storage facilities across the United States.
In the week ending July 31, natural gas storage saw an increase of 33 billion cubic feet (Bcf), surpassing market expectations of a 31 Bcf build.
This injection brings total working gas in storage to approximately 3,000 Bcf, which is about 7% lower than the same period last year. The EIA notes that this slower-than-normal build rate has contributed to a relatively bullish outlook for natural gas prices.
Natural gas storage levels directly affect wholesale prices, which in turn influence heating bills for households and operating costs for industries that rely on gas as a feedstock or fuel.
