Enamelled Wire Enterprises in China Adjust Holiday Production Amid Weak Demand
As the National Day holiday approaches, enamelled wire enterprises in China have largely completed their production plans and made arrangements for the holiday period. SMM conducted a survey of 10 enamelled wire enterprises with a total annual capacity of 551,000 mt to determine their holiday operating status.
The findings show that most enterprises maintained continuous workshop operations through rotating shifts and reduced loads to ensure delivery of orders on hand. However, some enterprises adjusted their holiday arrangements based on their own order conditions due to weak demand from the home appliance sector.
High copper prices before the holiday led some enterprises under order pressure to take a concentrated holiday of 2-5 days to adjust production pace and ease operating pressure. During the holiday, enamelled wire enterprises maintained normal shipment pace but varied in their stockpiling plans.
Copper rod supply in south China was tight, leading local enamelled wire enterprises to adjust shipment pace and optimize production schedules to mitigate raw material pressure. In east China, raw material procurement costs were relatively controllable, but enterprises still had concerns about procurement costs and inventory risks.
