Enbridge Crushes Q2 Earnings with Surging Mainline Volumes
Enbridge, one of North America's largest pipeline operators, exceeded earnings expectations for its second quarter. The company reported adjusted profit of 63 Canadian cents per share, beating analysts' average estimate of 59 Canadian cents.
The profit increase was largely due to higher volumes of liquids transported on Enbridge's Mainline system, which transports nearly half of the crude in the United States. The pipeline network moved light and heavy crude oil, natural gas liquids, and refined products from Edmonton, Alberta, to various markets in Canada and the U.S. Midwest.
The company's Mainline system saw a 4% increase in adjusted core profit for the quarter ended June 30, rising to $1.57 billion from $1.5 billion a year ago.
