Equinor has warned of a tight winter market for liquefied natural gas (LNG) as flows through the Strait of Hormuz remain severely restricted due to ongoing conflict. The Norwegian energy company noted that vessels are unable to transit safely, exacerbating Europe's vulnerability as it heads into the colder months.
The prolonged restrictions on LNG flows through Hormuz are expected to persist until the conflict is resolved, further straining an already tense market. This situation compounds the challenges faced by Europe, which is heavily reliant on LNG imports to fill its storage facilities ahead of winter.
Despite high prices, Asian demand for LNG has shown resilience, adding another layer of complexity to the global market dynamics. Equinor also highlighted its efforts to link Appalachian gas supplies with power generation, underscoring the company's strategic focus on diversifying its energy portfolio.
