Estonia Blocks Russian Grain Transit Amid Ukraine Conflict
Estonia has banned the transit of grain from Russia and Belarus through its ports in response to Russia's attacks on Ukrainian seaports. The ban is part of a broader effort by the European Union to limit Russian imports into the EU.
The Estonian government implemented the ban through amendments to Government Resolution No. 93, which prohibits the transit of grain originating from Russia and Belarus through Estonia.
This move comes as Russia is seeking new routes to export its grain following Ukrainian strikes on Russian logistics, which could limit Russia's maritime wheat exports to one-third, according to estimates by analytics firm Kpler and data from Russia's SovEcon.
