Estonia Blocks Transit of Russian Grain Amid Ukraine Port Blockade
Estonia has banned the transit of Russian and Belarusian grain through its territory in an effort to prevent Baltic ports from being used as alternative export routes for Russia.
The decision was announced by Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna, who stated that Estonia will not provide a route for Russian grain exports after Russia attacked Ukrainian ports and blocked Ukraine's own grain exports.
Tsahkna noted that the transit of Russian grain through Estonia was already 'practically nonexistent' as of September, but warned Moscow against seeking new routes through the country. The Estonian ban is part of a joint effort with Latvia and Lithuania to prevent Baltic ports from being used for Russian grain.
