ETFs Tracking KOSPI 200 Top Major Wealth Management Returns This Year
KOSPI 200 ETFs have topped the returns of major wealth management methods this year, despite oil prices surging by over 67% and gold, Bitcoin, and bonds declining in value.
The KODEX 200 ETF, which tracks the movements of the KOSPI 200 index, rose from 60,480 won on January 2 to 109,285 won on September 20, recording a return of 80.76%.
This is more than 40 times the 1.99% annualized return of 1-year time deposits at five major banks in South Korea, which averaged an interest rate of 2.77%. The returns for KODEX 200 are also calculated before management fees, expenses, and taxes.
The second-highest returning asset was West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil futures in New York, with prices increasing by 67.36% from $57.41 to $96.08 per barrel over the same period.
