EU Approves Lithuanian Aid for LNG Terminal in Klaipėda

The European Commission has approved a Lithuanian program to compensate Litgas for supplying liquefied natural gas (LNG) to a terminal in Klaipėda, Lithuania. The decision was made after an in-depth review in April, which concluded that the compensation was in line with EU state aid rules.

The approval clears the way for the Lithuanian government's plan to support Litgas, which will supply mandatory volumes of LNG to the terminal. This move is part of Lithuania's efforts to reduce its dependence on Russian energy imports and increase its use of cleaner-burning natural gas.
