EU Corn Crop Forecasts Lowest Level in Two Decades
The European Union (EU) corn crop is forecast to decline to its lowest level in nearly two decades, according to UkrAgroConsult. The agency predicts that EU corn production will reach only 50.2 million tons in 2026/27.
This decrease is largely due to the impact of hot and dry weather on major producing countries. As a result, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has raised its forecast for EU corn imports by 1 million tons to 23.5 million tons.
However, traditional suppliers such as Ukraine may struggle to meet this increased demand due to disruptions in port infrastructure and shipping caused by intensified attacks on Black Sea ports.
The USDA also reduced its forecast for Ukrainian corn exports by 1 million tons to 22 million tons. Brazil's corn exports are expected to be more limited, with the USDA cutting its forecast by 1 million tons to 43 million tons due to stronger domestic demand.
