EU Gas Supply Remains Stable Despite Below-Average Storage Levels

The European Union's gas supply remains stable despite storage levels being below historical averages, according to the European Commission. The Commission's Gas Coordination Group met on September 24 to assess current gas market conditions and winter preparedness.

The group reviewed the EU's gas supply situation and concluded that supplies remained stable, with increased LNG import capacity, diversification of supply sources, and lower gas demand supporting the bloc's gas supply resilience.

The group also discussed preliminary findings for the Winter Preparedness Report by ENTSOG, which is due to be published on October 8. The meeting also reviewed the implementation of EU gas supply rules designed to protect supplies to protected customers, including households and essential services, in the event of serious supply disruptions.
