EU Ministers Convene in Dublin Amid Energy Price Fears
EU energy ministers gathered in Dublin to discuss ways to support consumers amid rising energy costs. The meeting comes as natural gas prices have approached their highest levels in nearly four years, with gas stocks in Europe unusually low.
The conflict in the Middle East and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz were cited as additional factors contributing to price uncertainty.
EU Energy Commissioner Dan Jørgensen emphasized that developing renewable energy, modernizing electricity grids, and reforming the electricity market will help reduce costs in the long term. He also mentioned support for electrification and expanding renewable energy sources as short-term measures.
