EU Wheat Exports Lag Behind Last Year's Figures Amid Barley Slump
The European Union's soft wheat exports in the 2026/27 season have seen an increase, albeit modest. As of September 13, a total of 5.61 million metric tons had been exported, which is up from 4.92 million just a week prior but still lower by 2% compared to the same period last year.
Romania was the top EU soft wheat exporter so far this season with 2.78 million tons shipped out, followed closely by Lithuania at 0.96 million tons and Bulgaria at 0.49 million tons.
EU barley exports, on the other hand, have taken a hit with only 1.70 million tons exported as of September 13, down 40% from last year's figures despite an increase in volume compared to the previous week.
