Europe Soars Amid Iran Hopes and Crude Price Plunge
European stock markets rose on renewed hopes for peace in the Middle East following US President Donald Trump's decision to suspend a planned attack on Iran.
Falling oil prices also contributed to the optimism, with WTI plummeting by almost 6% to $79.7 per barrel and Brent dropping by more than 7% to around $83 per barrel.
The OPEC+ agreement to increase production by another 188 barrels per day in September added weight to the market, but the prospect of an agreement guaranteeing energy supplies through the Strait of Hormuz eased fears of supply disruptions.
