European Gas Prices Reach New High Amid Geopolitical Tensions
Natural gas prices on European exchanges have continued to rise, reaching a high of 68.19 euros/MWh on August 25, 2026.
This follows an increase in recent days and is influenced by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and uncertainty regarding energy flows through the Strait of Hormuz.
The risk premium in the market remains high due to the possibility of tighter sanctions against Iran and risks related to the region's energy infrastructure.
Additionally, low inventory levels are putting pressure on prices. European gas storage facilities are approximately 62% full, which is significantly below the seasonal average of about 79%.
