European Gas Prices Rebound as Middle East Export Flows Recover
European and British wholesale natural gas prices retreated on Friday as signs of recovering Middle East export flows offset concerns over escalating tensions in the US-Iran conflict.
The Dutch front-month contract dropped by 2.77% to trade at 71.90 euros per megawatt-hour (MWh), while the day-ahead wholesale gas contract in Great Britain fell by 3.4% to 180.15 pence per therm.
Saudi Arabia's resumption of operations on its East-West Pipeline and tanker loadings from the Red Sea port of Yanbu helped alleviate regional supply route disruptions, easing immediate supply bottleneck fears.
Despite this relief, energy trading desks caution that regional gas bourses remain sensitive to potential transit disruptions or infrastructure threats as the northern hemisphere winter heating season begins.
