European Gas Prices Surge on LNG Disruptions and Geopolitical Risks
European natural gas prices are rising due to concerns over liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies from the Persian Gulf and security risks in the Strait of Hormuz. The front-month October contract at the Dutch TTF hub, Europe's benchmark for natural gas pricing, settled at €71.95 per megawatt-hour last Friday.
As of 3:43 p.m. (12:43 GMT) on Friday, it was trading at €81.48 per MWh, up 13.2% from last week's close.
The ongoing disruptions to LNG supplies from the Gulf and geopolitical risks are driving international gas prices higher.
