European Natural Gas Prices Drop 7.3% Amid Geopolitical Calm
Natural gas prices on the European exchange have dropped by over 7% in the past few days, according to data from Energocom joint stock company. The price fell to 58.94 euros/MWh on July 27, down from 63.58 euros/MWh on July 24.
The decrease is attributed to a reduction in geopolitical risk premium due to signals of an end to military actions in the Middle East and prospects for the reopening of critical maritime routes, including the Strait of Hormuz.
Energocom also notes that lower oil prices have contributed to easing pressure on the natural gas market. However, the company cautions that the market remains volatile due to low European gas storage levels and reduced liquefied natural gas flows to Northwestern Europe.
