Excelerate Energy Selects Nord Gas Solutions for FSRU Conversion Project

Excelerate Energy has chosen Nord Gas Solutions (NGS) to supply the regasification system module for its first FSRU conversion project. The contract was awarded in July 2026, and delivery is expected in the first half of 2028.

The vessel being converted is the Methane Patricia Camila, a large LNG carrier with a capacity of 6.0 million cubic feet (170,000 cubic meters). Once converted, it will serve as both a storage unit for liquefied natural gas and a regasification unit to deliver the gas to end markets.

NGS was selected due to its technical experience in FSRU conversion regasification systems and its existing relationship with Excelerate Energy. The company's Head of Sales, Pål Steinnes, noted that this project is 'a great honor' for NGS to work with one of the industry's most prominent companies on their first conversion project.

The converted vessel is expected to expand access to natural gas in the markets it serves, providing cleaner and more affordable energy compared to alternatives. FSRUs have become a practical solution for areas that need gas supply infrastructure but cannot justify or finance onshore regasification terminals.
