Exmar Secures 10-Year Deal for Abidjan FSRU in Ivory Coast

Belgian gas shipping and infrastructure company Exmar has signed a decade-long floating LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) infrastructure arrangement in Ivory Coast, reviving an import terminal project that had been under consideration for ten years.

The Abidjan FSRU (Floating Storage Regasification Unit) plan dates back to early 2016 when the government approved the PACI-GNL project due to a mounting shortfall of natural gas for electricity production. Petroci and CI-Energies, both state-owned companies, were assigned the task of establishing a joint venture with private investors.

Exmar's FSRU will have a capacity of 152,000 cubic meters and is expected to bolster domestic gas supplies consumed heavily in power production.
