Explora Journeys Unveils LNG-Powered Flagship Explora III in Barcelona
Explora Journeys, the ultra-luxury cruise line of MSC Group, has unveiled its first ship powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), the Explora III. The ceremony took place in Barcelona's Port and was attended by key executives from the company, including Pierfrancesco Vago, executive chairman of the MSC Group's cruise division.
The 7-billion-euro investment plan aims to develop a high-end fleet with six ships in operation by 2028. This new flagship offers 19.5 m2 of public spaces per passenger, exceeding the company's previous ratio and one of the highest in the industry.
Anna Nash, president of Explora Journeys, emphasized that this ship represents a pivotal moment in the evolution of their fleet and a commitment to the future of ultra-luxury ocean travel. The onboard experience focuses on creating an 'Ocean State of Mind' through personalized experiences and a carefully curated selection of luxury brands.
The Explora III features a second Owner's Residence, renovated main lobby, and wine cellar with over 350 international references, including limited editions from Il Palagio winery. The ship also houses the first boutique at sea of Chopard, along with spaces dedicated to Rolex, Cartier, Piaget, and Mandala by Ocean Atelier.
