ExxonMobil Awards Contracts to Local Companies on Rovuma LNG Project

ExxonMobil has awarded contracts to two Mozambican companies for logistical support services on its Rovuma LNG project. The selection of CFML Logistics and Alistair Group Mozambique reinforces ExxonMobil's commitment to local content, according to Johanna Boothey, chair of the board of directors and managing director of ExxonMobil Mozambique. Boothey stated that the contracts will contribute to the development of national capabilities and create lasting value in the country.

The Rovuma LNG project is valued at around $20 billion and is expected to generate around $6 billion in economic activity in Mozambique, creating opportunities for approximately 7,500 Mozambican workers during construction. The project involves building 12 liquefaction trains with a combined capacity to produce 18.6 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas per year.

ExxonMobil has also signed letters of intent with Saipem and Jan de Nul to provide engineering, procurement, and technical support services for the project's upstream segment. The work is expected to enable detailed planning to proceed for the development of subsea infrastructure required for natural gas production in Area 4.
